1. What is a Computer System?

   • A computer system takes a set of inputs, process and create a set of outputs.
   • Computer Input
     • Role: Provide data for further processing
     • Input consists of data or commands that are entered into the computer by input devices: Mouse, Keyboard, Barcode Scanner
       • Input data is converted into digital data that then can be dealt with by the computer
   • Computer Processing
     • Processing is where the Input data is manipulated to find meaningful information
       • Example: Searching sales data to find which products in a supermarket have sold the most
   • Computer Output
     • Output is where the information from the processing is presented to the user in a suitable format
       • Most outputs involve converting digital data into some physical effect.Means you might be able to see or hear the output
         • See: Printout, Hear: Music, Voice instructions
       • Other kind of Output, stays in digital form
         • Example: Wifi, Video Screen, Printer, Speakers
   • Hardware
     • Physical parts that make up the computer
       • External
         • Monitor, Printer, Keyboard, Mouse
       • Internal
         • Hard disk, CPU, Fan, Motherboard
   • Software
