1. Binet's theory

   • joined by scientist, Theodore Simon, created "Binet-Simon scale"
   • created first IQ test, "New Methods for diagnosing idiocy, imbecility and Moron Status
   • built 30 test to reflect abilities of children
   • results: easily distracted, saw intelligence as a mixture of mulitfaced mental faculites that operate with real world
   • Theory is "intelligence is fixed at birth, through genetic inheritance and that there are stages of intelligence a child should go through while growing up

2. Guilford's theory

   • 2 types of intelligence
     • divergent thinking: creatively means there is more than one answer to any problem
     • convergent thinking: IQ test, require thinking with one single number
   • thought creativity was measureable
   • made different test for different thinkers

   • intelligence is made up from 3 groups

3. Cattell's theory

   • 2 types of intelligence
     • fluid: thinking and reasoning, genetically inherited
     • crystallized: verbal comprehension and numerical facility

4. Multiple intellligences

   • 8 types of intelligence
     • developed by Dr.Howard Gardner
     • Interpersonal: people smart
     • Intrapersonal: self smart
     • Linguistic: word smart
     • Logical: logic smart
     • Naturalist: nature smart
     • Spatial: picture smart
     • Bodily kinesthetic: body smart
     • Musical: music smart

5. IQ testing

   • 1) Mental ability test
     • reading questions
     • good for people who's brains like reading and understand quickly
   • 2) Visual ability test
     • some people understand and is easier and faster
