     • removes data from the original file

2. HTML

   • HyperText Markup Language
     • Tells browsers how to display text
     • Extra features to allow tables, links, images and applications to be embedded in a web page
     • Supports scripting languages such as JavaScript

3. XML

   • Extensible Markup Language
     • open standard
     • encodes documents which supports Unicode
       • What is Unicode?
         • Represents characters from languages from all around the world
           • encodes - converts (information or an instruction) into a particular form.
         • Unicode uses between 8 and 32 bits per character
