- Input devices are used to interact with a computer system and ouput devices are used to ouput data from the computer
- Input Devices
- An input device is a piece of equipment which lets users put information into a computer system
- E.G. Typing in characters on a keyboard or recording someone singing
- Typical input devices include:
- Mice, Keyboard, Barcode reader, Magnetic strip reader, Light Pen, Scanner, OMR, OCR, Sensors, Webcams & Microphones
- Output Devices
- An output device is any device which is used to transfer the results of data processing to the user
- E.G. listening to music or printing an essay
- Typical output devices include:
- Monitor, Speakers, Printer, Servomechanisms
- Hybrid Devices
- Provide the user with both an input and ouput
- Typical hybrid devices include:
- Game controllers, Laptops and Touchscreen smartphones
- Users with Specific needs
- Computer systems can be customised to meet the specific needs of users who are visually impaired, unable to use their hands or disabled in any other way
