1. 3 types of soils

   • Podzol soils
     • Form in wet and cold areas that's covered by coniferous trees
     • Heavy rain causes leaching and hard plan development
     • Podzol soil are found in poorly drained upland areas of Galway and cork
   • Peat soils
     • Peat soils are dark in colour and developed in mountain areas
     • Peat soils Are poor drainage they become waterlogged very easy
     • Peat soil is rich in humus found in raised and blanket bogs
   • Brown earth
     • Formed by rotting vegetation
     • The dark brown colour contains rich organic humus
     • This creates a fertile top soil
     • Brown earth is most common in ireland

   • B horizon: (1)grey colour (2)little air (3)few organisms
   • C horizon: (1)imperable bedrock
