Data Definition Language (DDL)

1. Create. This command creates an object within the database.

2. Alter.This command allows you to modify the structure of an object.

3. Drop. This command deletes an object from the database.

4. Truncate. This command truncates the entire contents of a table.

5. Data Manipulation Language (DML).

   • Select. Used to query database records that meet a given criteria.
   • Insert. An SQL INSERT statement adds one or more records to a (and only one) table in a relational database.
   • Update. An SQL UPDATE statement is used to modify the values of an existing recordset in a table.
   • Delete. An SQL DELETE statement deletes one or more existing records in a table.
