It´s a step by step procedure , which defines a set of instructions to be executed in a certain order from the given input to get the desired output.

Ex.-

Google Hangouts : Audio and Video compression algorithm.

Google maps : Route finding algorithm.

PROPERTIES

Input : There are 0 or more inputs, taken from a specified set of objects

Output : There are 1 o more outputs, which have a specified relation to the inputs.

Finiteness : he algorithm must always terminate after a finite number of steps

Definiteness : Each step must be precisely defined, the actions to be carried out, must be rigorously and un ambiguously pacified for each case.

Effectiveness : All operations to be performed must be sufficiently basic that they can be done exactly and in finite length.
