Function notation

If F is a function y=x^2+1

f(x)=x^2+1

f of x

x is the independent value

f(x) is the dependent value

the brackets do not mean multiplication, you cannot add f(1)+f(2) as f(1+2), you need to add their answers, 5+1=6

if f(1)=1^2+1

f(2)= 2^2+1=5

f(3)=3^2+1=10

d(t) might mean distance as a function of time
