Seasons, Day and Night
The tilt of earth's axis causes seasons, and the Earth's revolution
The rotation of earth on it's axis causes day and night
The axis is important because it determines the seasons (look below to your right)
Earth's axis is tilted at a 23.5 degree angle and is pointed towards the north star, Polaris.
The sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
The earth rotates and revolves counter-clockwise.
The shortest days will be in winter and the longest days will be in summer.
Solstice-either of the two moments of the year when the sun is farthest north or south of the celestial equator
Summer-June 21 (most sunlight)
Winter-December 21 (least sunlight)
Equinox-either of the two moments of the year when the sun crosses the celestial equator
Vernal (spring)-March 21 equal day and night
Autumal (fall)-September 21 equal day and night

Moon Phases
What causes moon phases? As the moon revolves around the earth, the portion of the moon the reflects sunlight back to Earth changes.
What causes Solar and Lunar Eclipses? The sun, moon, and earth line up and get in each other's shadows. Look 2 down to the left.

What Causes tidies? The moon's gravitational pull on Earth.
To go from high tide to high tide is 12hrs and 25 min.
To go from high tide to low tide it's about 6 hours.
