Valence Electrons
A chemical reaction involves either electron removal, electron addition, or electron sharing.
Valence electrons are the electrons in the highest occupied principal energy level of an atom.
In the second period elements, the two electrons in the 1s1s sublevel are called inner-shell electrons and are not involved directly in the element's reactivity or in the formation of compounds.
Valence electrons are the outer-shell electrons of an atom.
Valence electrons determine the reactivity of an atom.
The elements in the left are more reactive than the ones on the right of the periodic table, by columns.
The difference between the valence electrons and the normal electrons is that the valence electrons are only in the last energy level and the normal electrons could be in any energy level.
The electrons in the first energy levels are called inner electrons and the ones in the last energy level are called valence electrons.
Valence electrons take part in chemical bonds.
Inner electrons don't take part in chemical bonds.
Valence electrons generally are in the S or P
All elements in the periodic table are neutral.
