Who would the audience be for your media product?

The target audience for our film are teenagers the age of 15 and above, if we was to stereotype the gender that our film is aimed at it would be girls. This is due to the film having more female based characters, which gives teenage girls a character that they can relate to. Although overall our film is aimed at striving teenagers who have ambition to become famous from a young age, however we are showing throughout our film that being famous and being in the eye of fame is stressful and upsetting. We have done this because many teenagers think that their lives would be so much better if they was famous and we are presenting that in someways it is not.

Through research we have found that films under the 15 certificate category can contain adult themes, hard drugs and alcohol, regular use of foul language and limited use of very strong language, strong violence and strong sex references, and nudity without graphic detail. Sexual activity may be portrayed but without any strong detail. Sexual violence may be shown if discreet and justified by context.

The reason that we chose this certificate rating is because if our film was to carry on it consists of adult themes, hard use of drugs and alcohol, regular use of foul language and limited use of strong language, also there are sexual references and activity with out strong detail. I feel like this was the best certificate to go for as it matches our film better than the 12 certificate. Our film also consists of extreme social problems, this relates our target audience being 15 and over because this is the age where they begin to experience social problems and begin to choose and career path. Also at this age they start coming into experience of drugs and alcohol, so our film is giving the message that drugs and alcohol is not always the answer.
