Tanya - Intro

• the tanya was writiten by the Alter Rebbe. Tanya is divided in 5 parts. ספר של בינונים, שער היחוד והאמונה, אגרת הקדש, קנטרות אחרון. and the first 3 parts of tanya were published in the year 5557 and later the other 2 parts of tanya was first published in the year 5574 after the Alter Rebbe passed away.
• the alter rebbe wrote the tanya to answer everyones questions and had in mind all the futre generations.
• The tanya is compered to the תורה for a few reasons: 1. The tanya is the basics of Chassidus and the Torah is the basics of Torah. 2. everyone could /should learn Tanya and Chumish. you learn it on your level. 3. The tanya has 53 prekem + intro and Chumash has 54. 4. its precise wording. 5. no nikudos. 6 they both start with taf.

Learning Tanya

• The chassidim should learn tanya every day. The tanya it protects us and saves us.
• Once a Chassid of the Rebbe Rayatz, who was a businessman and spent alot of time traveling. Before one of his businesstrips the chassid had a yechidus with the rebbe rayats. The rebbe told him every time you step on the plane and when you go off the plane, and when the plane takes of or lands, you should say tanya, and also when you go on a train. this way the tanya protected him and he was also very sucsesfull.
• the tanya can be learnt in a simple level and the tanya can be learnt in a higer level. you could learn tanya on your level (like chumish) everyone should and could learn tanya
• there are 6 constant mitzvos, and the only way these mitzvos (which incloudes beliving in hashem love hashem..) is by learning tanya and chassidus in general. The tanya is explaining these 6 mitzvos.

learning tanya by your milestones

• once when R' Hillel Patrich, during a farbrengen said: a person should learn tanya by there milestones. when a baby is born they should get a tanya with their name on it. and then by there Bas Mitzva the tanya that they got should be givin to them by the seudah with a lot of simcha. and by their wedding they should learn from the tanya they got when they were babys, it has a special sgulah.

• Once the Chassidim saw the Alter Rebbe learning tanya. the chassidim saw this and were confussed, so they asked the Alter Rebbe "Rebbe why do you have to learn tanya? since you wrote it isent it it us that are supposed to learn tanya?" the alter rebbe answered "right now in the book that i wrote I learnt more then i did all my years as the Maggid of Mezrichs talmid"
