• Remove the -AR, -ER or -IR from the infinitive
• Add the correct ending:
• AR ER +IR
• I aba ía
• You abas ías
• He/She/It aba íá
• We ábamos íamos
• You (pl) abais íais
• They aban ían

IRREGULARS

• There are only 3 irregulars in the imperfect tense:
• VER (To See) SER (To Be) IR (To Go)
• I veía era iba
• YOU veías eras ibas
• HE/SHE/IT veía era iba
• WE veíamos éramos ibamos
• YOU (PL) veías erais ibais
• THEY veía eran iban

When is it used?

• TO DISCUSS SOMETHING IN THE PAST
• WHAT YOU USED TO DO
• DESCRIBING THE WEATHER EG LAST WEEK
• "WHEN I WAS 15"
