Karten in diesem Stapel (14)

  1. 1AssemblerProgram that assembles written assembly into machine code, creating a binary.
  2. 2CompilerA program that compiles the code from a programming language such as C++ or C and translates it into machine code, outputting a binary such as a .exe file.
  3. 3Lexical AnalysisKeywords, variables, constants and other identifiers are stored as tokens. Comments and other unnecessary whitespace is disposed of.
  4. 4Symbol Table ConstructionThis phase of compiling constructs a table of symbols which have the memory addresses of variables, labels and other functions/subroutines.
  5. 5Syntax AnalysisTokens are checked, code is checked for syntax errors, parsing is done to check this, and if an error is found, the compilation is halted and an error is outputted.
  6. 6Semantic AnalysisThis phase includes the checking of variables to check for declaration errors, checking if the type of those variables is correct, legality of operations is checked and warnings are issued.
  7. 7Code generationOne of the final stages of a compiler, this is where all the objects, symbols and whatever code remains is processed and translated into machine code.
  8. 8Code optimisationThe final stage of a compiler, because programmers usually sacrifice code speed for readability, the compiler optimises the outputted machine code so that it runs faster, and the code quality does not affect the outputted machine code.
  9. 9Syntax ErrorThis kind of error occurs when you use the wrong keyword at the wrong time, such as using closing brackets when you are meant to use opening brackets.
  10. 10Runtime ErrorAn error that is not caught out by the compiler, but one that causes the program to close for whatever reason, an example is division by zero.
  11. 11Logical ErrorAn error that is not caught out by the compiler, these are usually the most annoying ones as the code does what it is supposed to, but the programmer programmed it wrong, giving the wrong behaviour.
  12. 12Linking ErrorAn error that occurs during the linking phase, usually caused when a symbol definition is missing meaning that code cannot be generated.
  13. 13Rounding ErrorUsually happens when the programmer mistakenly stores a decimal value as an integer value, rounding it and causing the value to affect some calculation later on that relied on the decimal.
  14. 14Truncation ErrorHappens when a part of the decimals is cut off and causes some calculation to be inaccurate.
