Ram and Rom
  1. ROM is memory that cannot be changed by a program or user. ROM retains its memory even after the computer is turned off. For example, ROM stores the instructions for the computer to start up when it is turned on again.
    1. Read Only Memory (ROM)
      1. A ROM is non-volatile, meaning that when the computer is shut down the stored data is not lost. This is because when the computer is restarted it uses the data, stored in the ROM to start up.
      2. RAM is a fast temporary type of memory in which programs, applications and data are stored.
        1. Examples of what's stored in RAM: the operating system ,applications, the graphical user interface (GUI)
          1. Random Access Memory (RAM).
            1. A RAM disk is volatile, meaning that it loses the stored data when the computer is shut down, unless memory is arranged to have a standby battery source.
            2. A ROM chip is used primarily in the start up process of a computer, whereas a RAM chip is used in the normal operations of a computer after starting up and loading the operating system.
