Discuss two differences between structural and action theories. One difference between structural and action theories is that action theories begin analysis by explaining the role of the individual in society. Whereas, structural theories begin by examining the role of institutions in society. Action theories, therefore, look at individuals and and the way they shape society. Structural theories, therefore, look at the way society shapes the individual. Another difference between structural and action theories is that structural theories tend to use particular methods of research, such as qantitative. Action theories, on the other hand, often use qualitative methods of research to investigate interactions.
