- 1What is procedure for comms failure? If in Class G:
a. remain VMC
b. broadcast intentions (transmitting blind)
c. remain VFR in class G, land at nearest suitable aerodrome
If in Controlled/Restricted:
a. Squawk 7600
b. Listen on ATIS
c. Transmit intentions and make normal position reports (transmitting blind) - 2Continuing process if comms failure in IMC?1. If no clearance limit, proceed in accordance with clearance and climb to planned level
2. If clearance limit, hold for 3 mins at nominated location, then proceed in accordance with clearance
3. If under ATC surveillance:
i. Climb to MSA/LSALT
ii. Maintain last vector for 2 mins (if being vectored)
iii. Proceed with latest route clearance acknowledged
4. If holding:
i. Fly one more completed holding pattern
ii. proceed IAW latest route CLRC - 3Continuing process for comms failure at destination?Commence descent IAW CLRC, do approach as normal
- 4Continuing process for comms failure at minima? If visual at minima continue to land. Only land at CTR if clearance via modulated navaid or light signal visible.
If not visual, continue to alternate (or if insufficient fuel, conduct another approach)
Certain Class D have specific communication failure procedures, see ERSA - 5What factor should takeoff and landing distances be multiplied by for aircraft with MTWO of 2,000kg or less?1.15
- 6What is the VHF Theoretical Maximum Range?d (nm) = 1.23 x (√(Htx) +√(Hrx)) in feet
