- 1VirusesA piece of code which is capable of copying itself and corrupting the system or destroying data.
- 2DDOSThis is when a server or website is overloaded with requests and thus rendering it inoperable.
- 3Trojan horseA trojan virus is a piece of malware that is disguised as a legitimate app, website etc.
- 4PhishingA fraudulent practise where the attacker sends an email or something similar to trick the victim into giving away personal info or infecting their device.
- 5Brute force attackWhen a piece of malware systematically tries every combination to a password or something similar to 'break in'.
- 6SQL injectionWhen malicious code is included in the username to attack a website.
- 7WormsA computer worm is a malicious computer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers.
- 8Rogue security softwareThis is a form of scareware that manipulates through fear and ransomware. It misleads the user to believe there is a virus on there computer and the so called 'anti-virus' software that they must install is the actual virus.
- 9SpywareSecretive malware that allows someone to spy on another person without their knowledge.
- 10Social engineeringThis is when someone simply looks at someone's pin or password in real life, usually without the victims knowledge.
