CORE 3 Functions and Mappings
Fichas del conjunto (6)
- 1MappingAn operation that transforms the object (value from domain) and transforms it into another (the image)
- 2DomainA set of values that can be mapped into the range (X values)
- 3RangeA set of images (values from the domain that are already mapped)
- 4FunctionA type of mapping that takes each value from the domain and maps it to only one value in the range
- 5Odd FunctionOdd Functions are when f(x) = -f(x)
They have rotational symmetry around the origin
E.g. f(x) = x^3 +2(x)^5 + x
f(-x) = -x^3-2(x)^5-x
f(-x) = -(x^3 +2(x)^5 + x) - 6Even FunctionAn even function is when f(-x) = f(x)
Even functions are symmetrical around the Y axis
E.g. f(x) = x^2 + 2x^4 +1
f(-x) = (-x)^2 +2(-x)^4 +1
f(-x) = x^2 + 2(x)^4 +1
