- 1how do light and matter interact?*emission
*absorption
*transmission
-transparent objects transmit light
- opaque objects block (absorb) light
*reflection/scattering - 2what does a mirror do that a movie screen does not?a mirror reflects light in a particular direction whereas a movie screen scatters in all directions
- 3what do interactions between light and matter determine?the appearance of everything around us
- 4what is a wave?it is a pattern of motion that can carry energy without carrying matter along with it
- 5what shows that light carries a vibrating electric field?electrons move when light passes by
- 6what is a light wave?it is a vibration of electric and magnetic fields
- 7what does light interact with in electric and magnetic fieldit interacts with charged particles
- 8what is a particle of light?photons
- 9what does the energy of a photon depends on?its frequency
- 10what is the speed of light formula?c= 3.00E8 m/s
- 11what is the photon energy formula?
