Half-duplex transmissions goes in both directions but not at the same time. For example walkie-talkies
Full-duplex data transmissions goes in both directions simultaneously. For example Google drive. - 3AsynchronousAsynchronous data transmission refers to data travelling in a correct order. Data bits (1s and 0s) are grouped together and sent with control bits. For example downloading videos and files of the internet.
- 4SynchronousSynchronous data transmission is a continuous stream of data. The data is accompanied by timing signals generated by an internet clock which insures the reviver and sender are synchronised with each other. The reviver counts how many bits were sent and resembles then into bytes. There arte no control bits so the timing should be very accurate.
- 5SerialSerial data can only send one bit at a time over a single wire or channel which makes it very slow. Bits are also sent after in a stream and works very well over long distances. An example is that its used to send data from a CPU to the memory.
- 6ParallelParallel data sends several bits of data( a byte) down several wires or channels at the same time. It works well over short distances however over long distances the bits can no longer be synchronised as they become skewed. This is a faster method of sending data and an example is sending data from a computer to a modem for transmission over a telephone line.
