- 1FOR Is used to indicate a period of time. It is often used with the Present Perfect. Example: I have lived in this state for 16 years.For can be used with other tenses:
Present: I go on a trip for a week every summer.
Past: When I was ten years old, I stayed in Acapulco with my family for a week.
Future: While I am in the in France, I will be in Paris for 5 days. - 2SINCE Is used to refer to the starting point of actions or situations. Usually used with the present perfect.Example:
I have been learning to cook since last month. - 3AGO Is used to say when past events occurred, going back from today into the past. The verb is in the past tense.Example:
I went to Cancun four years ago.
