Types of Translation Rigid: Translation Reflections Rotations
Types of Translation Non- rigid: Dialation (changing size) (to enlarge or shrink a figure) (It changes the size, but not the shape)
Translation Slide (to slide a figure to a new location)
Reflection Flip (to flip a figure over a line to form a mirror image)
Rotation Turn ( to turn a figure about a point)
Translation on a graph The formula for each graphed point depends on how much you want to move it. (x-5, y+3)
Rule for Reflection (x,y)____(-x,y) Rule: opposite of x
Rotation 1. Trace the figure 2. Put a + on the point about which you will be turning. 3. Rotate 1/3 = 90 degrees 1/4 = 180 degrees 3/4 = 270 degrees
