Pregunta Respuesta
How do you calculate the relative rate of reaction? relative rate = 1/time
How do you calculate the rate of reaction? Change in concentration or volume or mass ________________________________________ time
What is required for a successful collision to occur? Particles have sufficient energy(met the activation energy) and have the correct collision geometry
How does increasing the pressure or concentration affect the rate of reaction? It increases the rate of reaction as there are more particles in the same space, so there is more chance of a collision occurring
How does increasing particle size affect the rate of reaction? The rate of reaction decreases as there is less surface area for particles to react.
How does increasing temperature affect the rate of reaction? It increases the rate of reaction as particles will have more kinetic energy and there is a higher chance that they meet the activation energy.
Why is important to control the rate of reaction? To ensure the reaction is safe and is economically worthwhile
What is activation energy? The minimum amount of energy required by particles to have a successful collision
What is enthalpy change? The energy change that occurs when reactants are converted to products.
How do you calculate enthalpy change? H = E products - E reactants
What is the sign for the enthalpy change of an endothermic reaction? +
What effect do catalysts have on the activation energy? They lower the activation energy.
