Density

Fichas del conjunto (8)
- 1Density is...MASS per unit VOLUME
- 2Density is a measure of the compactness of a substanceIt relates the mass of a substance to how much space it takes up
- 3Density = Mass/Volume

- 4The units for density are...g/cm3 or kg/m3
1 g/cm3 = 1000 kg/m3 - 5The density of an object depends on what?It depends on what it's made of, density doesn't vary with size or shape.
- 6When will an object float? When it's density is less than that of the fluid.
e.g. oil floats on water because it's density is 0.8 g/cm3 while the density of water is
1 g/cm3 - 7How can you measure the volume of an irregular shaped object?Put it in a measuring cylinder of water and take the old volume from the new volume
- 8How can you find the density of a liquid?Find the mass by weighing it in a measuring cylinder and taking away the mass of the cylinder.
Find the volume with the measuring cylinder.
