The Four Transformations
Fichas del conjunto (5)
- 1What is Rotation?You give three details:
1 Angle of rotation (usually 90 or 180)
2 Direction of rotation (clockwise or anticlockwise)
3 Center of rotation (often, but not always the origin) - 2What is Enlargement? For an Enlargement, you must specify:
1 The scale factor (New length / Old length)
2 The center of enlargement - 3What is Translation? If the shape moves left and down, X and y will be negative
If the shape moves right and up, X and Y will be positive
E.g 8 units left and 6 units up (-8,6)
4 units right and 8 units down (4,-8) - 4What is Reflection? You must give the equation of the mirror line e.g.
The transformation from A to B is a
(reflection in the Y-axis)
The transformation for A to C is a
(reflection in the line Y=X) - 5Scale factors: The 4 key facts1 If the scale factor is bigger than 1, the shape gets bigger
2 If the scale factor is smaller than 1 (e.g. 1/2), the shape gets smaller
3 If the shape factor is negative then is pops out the other side of the enlargement center.
If its -1, its same as 180
