  1. 1What is Authentication-> Proving you are who you say you are
  2. 2What is Authorization-> determine what you have access to
  3. 3List all Win Authentication Systems1. Kerberos
    2. NTLM (NT LAN Manager)
    3. Certificates
  4. 4How does Kerberos work?-> Ticket based system
-> can authenticate users & computers
    - Domain Controller creates ticket -> user/computer shows ticket to other systems, other system validates tickets
  5. 5How does NTLM work?= windows ask a mathematical questions which only can be answered by the use and the password don’t need to be transported via network
  6. 6What are the benefits of NTLM versus Kerberos?-> can be uses to authenticated via IP (KERBEROS CANT)
    -> Firewall can block Kerberos
-> one or both computers are not in a domain
  7. 7How does a certificate work?- use public and private keys for encryption
    - use MS CA or 3rd CA
    - Smartcardes (BuildIn certificates), risk: smart card is stolen when in laptop (no password needed)
    - Biometrics: eyescanner & fingerprints
  8. 8What are the parts of Windows Authorization Systems?- Permissions
    - Polices
    - Rights
  9. 9What are permissions?Permissions are assigned to a resource, e.g. read/write
  10. 10What are polices?- assigned to computer/user through group policy
-> determine what is available and enabled, e.g. sound, wallpaper, connect to network
  11. 11What are rights?- assigned to a computer
-> determine actions user can perform -> log on to a computer, take ownership
  12. 12What uses MS for more easy use of permissions, rights and polices?Microsoft created groups for Permissions, Polices and rights
