The second half of the 20th century was characterized by the accelerated advance of science and technology. The discovery of penicillin was an important milestone in the development of innovative medicines and surgical procedures. For some decades now, DNA has been used as an instrument for identifying parents and children and as evidence in criminal cases.

The achievements in transportation have been remarkable. From the large computers that run power plants, industrial robots and airports, to the personal computers with which we play or use the internet.

Transmitter radio, television and their global connection possibilities, the use of faxes and cell phones have changed the lives of individuals and societies.
