1st paragraph

Ancient Greece is responsible for a large part of human history since the first writings were made there. Herodotus is considered the father of history.

2nd paragrahp

Corinth was the richest city in Greece and it was divided. Thebes was where Hercules was born according to the legends.

3rd paragraph

Wars between cities were common, such as that between Athens and Sparta.

4th paragraph

Sparta was well organized. The citizens of Sparta were soldiers until the age of 60 while women worked in the home. The rest of the population were the poor.

5th paragraph

Athens was the most cultural city in Greece, there were theatres and cults. Socrates, Plato and Aristotle lived there. In addition "Athens was the site of the world's first democratic government in 510 BC."

6th paragraph

Alexander the Great's father conquered Athens, then Alexander the Great ruled it and with his decisions he ended the empire.

7th paragraph

"Athens, as the birthplace of democracy, laid the foundation for all that was to follow in the Western world for the next two thousand years."
