1. Encryption

   • Cipher
     • A cipher is a way of scrambling data/encrpyting data
   • Encryption scrambles your data
   • To encrypt a message you use a cipher
   • To decrypt a message you must use a key
   • We use encryption when making bank accounts or social media accounts
   • You can tell when a website is using encryption cause in the web-bar there will be a small green lock pad
   • Not all websites use encryption because not all sites need to store your data
   • When we are using the internet and sending messages is when we are encrypting things

2. Physical Security

   • Physical Security are door locks and pin codes for hotel rooms

3. Passwords

   • A password is a type of defence or lock so other people cant use/access your stuff

4. FireWall

   • Used to help protect a computer network from intruders
   • Controls which programs can send and receive data packets
   • Prevents harmful data entering your computer
   • Used when program is trying to connect to another network

5. Anti-Virus

   • Scans the computer periodically
   • Quarantines any programs or files that are harmful
   • Protects against malicious software
   • Needs updating regularly to make sure that it knows the latest threats
   • Should be on email attachments
   • Should be used when downloading new software from the internet
