1. SPECIFY THE ISSUE WE WANT TO ANALYSE

   • is it feasible/easy to do so?
   • what is the hypothesis?
   • what is the population?
   • what are the population parameters?
   • What is the explanatory/independent and which is the response/dependent variable?

2. COLLECT DATA

   • design and hand out questionnaire/carry out the survey
   • conduct interviews
   • is the data?
     • primary or secondary ?
     • qualitative or quantitative?
     • discrete or continous?
     • bivariate?

3. process and represent data

   • sort and tidy data
   • carry out tables
   • calculate mean, median, mode and range
   • show results in graphs
     • scatter graphs
     • stem and leaf diagrams
