   • scans computer periodically to ensure there isn't any threats
   • quarentines any programs or files that could be harmful to your computer.
   • should be used when downloading files or programs off the internet because you could be downloading illegal or harmful content.
   • protects against malicious software because otherwise there will be a virus that can damage your computer
   • regular updates to make sure it knows latest threats because if a threat enters your computer, it can cause it to slow, corrupt ect.
   • should be used on email attachments and downloads so that you don't get any illegal files entering your computer

   • password protect and secure your devices to stop people from breaking into your devices.

   • Encryption is when someone sends data via code to stop people from nicking their ideas or information
   • caeser cipher
   • need key to know information
   • you need it because during transport, important information can be taken if it isn't encrypted

4. firewall

   • controls which programs can send and receive data packets and quarentines any programs or files which are harmful
   • prevents harmful data from entering your computer
   • controls which data packets ca send and receive data packets.
   • used to help protect a computer network from intruders
   • used when program is trying to connect to another network
