Whish

1. it is used to express a desire that something is different from what it is at the moment of speaking.

2. We do not expect that desire becomes reality.

   • So, in general, we use wish in imagined and not real situations.

3. You can use wish to talk about situations in the present to express a wish.

   • wish I could play the guitar. - Ojalá yo supiera tocar la guitarra.
     • I wish I had a bigger car. - Ojalá tuviese un coche más grande.

4. Wishes of other people:

   • She wishes she had swimming class today. - Ella desearía tener clase de natación hoy.
     • Tom wishes he had taken the train. - Tom desearía haber cogido el tren.

5. To express the desire for something to happen in the future:

   • wish + could
     • I wish we could go to the beach this weekend. - Ojalá pudiéramos ir a la playa este fin de semana.
     • wish + would
       • I wish Gina would not drink so much. -Ojalá Gina no bebiera tanto.
