Computational Thinking
What is Computational Thinking?
- Techniques to solve a complex problem
- It Helps to plan a route to meet your friend
- It's not accidently completing a video game level.
What is Decompsition?
- It breaks down a problem into smaller part
- It makes problems easier to solve
- We decompose on a daily basis
- Its like finding out how a bicycle works and looking into the detail at the different parts that make it up
What is pattern reconition?
- It looks for simerlaties among and within the problem
- Its like all parots have wings or all cars have wheels
- If we don't look for patterns our solution may be insaficiant or incorrect
What is abstaction?
- Its a process of filtering both irrelivent and unnecessary detail
- Its not like this book is fun to read
- A general characteristic may be some boats have sails
What are algorithms?
- They're a set of step-by-step of instructions to resolve a problem
- A flowchart is a diagram that represents algorithms
- Psudocode is a way of describing a set of instructions that doesn't use specific syntax
What is Evaluation?
- Its a process that allows us to make sure our solution is correct
- Working through an algorithm with a pen and paper is called a dry run.
- An efficient solution is heating some soup and buttering bread whilst soup is being heated
- If a evaluations not done the solution may be incomplete
