Loyalty in Macbeth

1. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth

   • Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are both very loyal towards each other; for example during the assassination of king duncan, lady macbeth helps cover up all of macbeths mistakes, and macbeth seems very grateful. However, this could also be taken as greed or a selfish act because lady macbeth is very eager to become the queen of scotland
   • At the very beginning of the play, when lady Macbeth is persuading her husband to assassinate the king. She is obviously showing that she trusts macbeth to carry out such a plan and when he finally agrees, despite not wanting to murder the king, that shows that he would do anything for his wife.

2. Macbeth and Banquo

   • Macbeth and Banquo were best friends at the beginning of the play. they went into battle together. However, when they have their first encounter with the witches Banquo seems jealous and Macbeth becomes very boastful of the witches predictions
   • At first, Banquo and Macbeth seem like the best of friends, because they have been to battle together, making them reasonably loyal
   • Banquo gets very jealous of what has been told to macbeth, and insists what his future will be like. Jealousy definitely isn't a factor in loyalty.
   • Macbeth kills Banquo, which isn't loyal at all.

3. Lady Macbeth and gentle women

   • Nearing the end of the play, Lady macbeth begins to lose her mind and evidently regreets her role in the murder of the king. A gentle women stays in the castle to help take care of her.
   • Despite the fact the gentle women was probably scared about her mistresses current mental state, she sticks by her and seeks help for lady macbeth.

4. What is loyalty?

   • Loyalty is when two or more people are both truthful towards one another and when you stay together through thick and thin.
   • E.G - A couple that have been together for a while and both continue to love each other equally and would do anything for the other.
