1. His fatal flaw is his ambition

   • This flaw is galvanised by the witches predication that he will be Thane of Cawdor and then king
     • galvanised means to encourage towards action

2. Thinking

   • Does Shakespeare offer clues that Macbeth already has a desire to be king?
     • His reaction to the witches words is surprise BUT THEN he falls silent
       • What is going through his head?

3. Once he receives news that one prophecy has come true, his thoughts turn to murder

   • However at this point he decides to leave the fulfillment of the prediction to chance
