Data Validation

1. Check Digit

   • The last couple of digits in a code are used to check if the others are correct

2. Format Check

   • This makes sure all the data is in the right format

3. Range check

   • Makes sure that figures and calculations are in the correct "specified range"

4. Spell check

   • Uses a dictionary to ensure that words are spelled correctly

5. Lookup Table

   • Searches for "acceptable" values within a table

6. Presence Check

   • Makes sure the data is entered into a field

7. Length Check

   • Checks that pieces of data aren't too long or too short
