Stats- Distribution
Features of Binomial Distribution: two outcomes, fixed number of trials, constant probability, independent (put into context)
Poisson Distribution Parameters/Conditions: Landa which is mean. Each occurrence is independent of other occurences. Events cannot occur simultaneously (at the same time or in the same place). Events occuring are unpredictable.
To find the standard deviation: 1. Go to inverse normal distribution 2. Insert the Area which is the probability given, the standard deviation as 1 and the mean as 0 and finally the tail will be left (if probability is less than) or right (if probability is greater than.) The answer is your z score. Now, step number 3. Use the formula Z= X - U / o- 4. Insert information given in the problem. Then use the triangle to rearrange the equation in order to find the standard deviation. FOr example: x-U / Z will equal the standard deviation. TADA :) Don't forget to explain why standard deviations are different if required. Standard deviation tells us how widely spread the data is :D.
If the probabilities of the histogram and normal distribution are within 3% then the use of normal distribution is justified.
