2.4 - Cells to organism

  1. Organ Systems

    • The organs in your body do not work independently. Organs are organised so that they can work together to complete a task. These organs form an organ system
  2. Tissues!

    • Plants have fewer organs and organ system than animals. These organs and tissues enable the plant to carry out essential functions such as photosynthesis.
      • xylem - carries water from the roots phloem - carries glucose from the leaves to all other plant parts
    • The types of tissues: epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, nerve tissue
        • Epithelial tissue is made up of cells that form surfaces over other organs.
        • Connective tissue supports and hold together other tissues in your body
        • muscle tissue can contract, becoming shorter and fatter, biceps are a muscle tissue
        • Nerve tissues send electrical signals around the body, these signals are managed by the nerve tissues in the brain and passed down the spinal cord.
