Matthew

1. Matthew is known to be in the Book of Q which has a common interest with Luke.

   • Matthew and Luke are recalling events that happened in the Bible. Of course, they use the same words in their texts. But, Matthew, Luke, and Mark were not always eyewitnesses.
     • In the Gospel of Matthew 6:25-34, Matthew and Luke agree to say, "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you- you of little faith?"(Case of Q pp. 5 of 15). The authors are explaining their point of view of what Jesus was like in the Gospel.
   • In Galilee, they talk about false beliefs about what Matthew and Luke talked about. In this book, Matthew and Luke used Mark independently of one another.

2. In the Bible, Matthew talks about the story of Abraham. The story of Abraham talks about the day he was going to show God, that he was loyal to him. This story is how it leads to Jesus

   • Abraham took his son Isaac to the mountains and had to sacrifice his own son. It was a big challenge for Abraham
     • There are going to be times that Jesus is going to be testing us during our days. We can either do the right thing or the wrong thing. But if you do the right things, good things happen to you. God will reward those that do the right things. Which is giving back, sharing, praying for others, etc.
   • In Matthew 1:18 It talks about the baby Jesus and the parent of the son Mary and Joseph. That they came together and raised the holy child
     • In the book, they describe Joseph, the husband of Mary and that he was a righteous man. But I heard that he was not a righteous man. He was scared that Mary was pregnant.
       • What I learned in church when I was a kid was that Joseph was afraid of being Marys wife. But, God told him to be with her and told Joseph about Jesus.
       • A big fact I learned in the Bible is that the Virgin Marys son was about to be called Immanuel. Which means being interpreted, God being with us.
       • There are times that we are going to go through challenges, but God wants us to take them head-on. When you are praying to him, he wants you to know that you are not alone. He is there for you. That what he did with Joseph

3. In Matthew, it talks about the story of Jesus. It says that Jesus was born from the Virgin Mary and he was born to become the king of Jerusalem

   • The king was furious that there is a child of God who was born to be king and taking over his kingdom. He would not let that happen and will do anything to stop it from happening.
     • In another addition to Jesus's story, it also talks about temptation. Jesus crosses paths with the devil and he is trying to corrupt Jesus.
       • Matthew 4:7, Jesus said unto him, Again is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God. That Jesus shall worship the Lord thy God and not serve you.
         • The devil will make do any kinds of thing that we want to do but, can lead to consequences. Were not all perfect and were going to make mistakes. But, we ask God for forgiveness and we move on from the devil.
           • It is very important that we do not listen to the devil and his evil schemes. If the devil is bringing you down during your day, you can always call on Jesus or God to help you solve your problems and help you through it.
   • When Jesus was baptized by John he said, "Suffer it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness"(Matthew 3:15). What i think it means is that Jesus would get baptized now, or he would not receive blessings from God and that he would not protect him.
     • When you get baptized as a baby, your parent will tell you that you're blessed by God and that he will protect you for the rest of your life. I have always believed that and I always will. A great thing has happened to me because I believe in God and that I always put him first.
