   • Energy can be Transferred by Heating
     • Conduction
       • The vibrating particles transfer energy to close particles.
     • Convection
       • The energetic particles move away from hotter to cooler regions.

2. Conservation of Energy and power

   • Energy can be transferred and stored but NOT created or destroyed
   • Energy Transferred Equation
     • Energy Transferred (J) = Power (W) x Time (s)

3. Efficiency and Sankey Diagrams

   • Efficiency Equation
     • Efficiency = Useful Energy Transferred / Total Energy Transferred
   • Use the Diagram to Show Efficiency

4. Energy Resources

   • Renewable
     • Never run out
     • Most do damage to the environment, but less than non-renewable
     • Don't provide as much energy
     • Main resources: wind, sun & tides
   • Non-Renewable
     • Will run out one day
     • Reliable
     • Damages the environment a lot.
     • Nuclear waste releases radiation, makes it dangerous
     • Main resources: fossil & nuclear fuels

5. The National Grid

   • Plugs Contain 3 Wires
     • Live Wire - Carries the voltage.
     • Neutral Wire - Completes the circuit - electricity flows in through the live wire and out through the neutral.
     • Earth Wire - For safety - Carries the current away if something goes wrong.
