1. What is HTML?

   • Hypertext Markup Language
   • Language for building web pages
   • It uses tags

2. What can it do?

   • Set where text should be placed
   • Create hyperlinks
   • Describe how text should look
   • Create sections within a page
   • Embed images

3. What is WWW?

   • World Wide Web
   • Collection of websites
   • A way of accessing info
   • How does it work?
     • The browser requests the ISP (Internet Service Provider)
       • Makes a request to the DNS which has all the names of websites and their number

4. What is hypertext?

   • A special type of database system
   • Text which creates links to other text/images/videos/audio
   • Short codes typed into textfile-tags

5. Key terms

   • URL
     • Address of a WWW page
     • Uniform resource locator
   • ISP
     • Internet service provider
     • A buisness that allows the consumer to access the internet
   • IP address
     • Public and private
     • A unique number consisting of 4 digits which identifies the computer.
     • Internet protocol
   • DNS server
     • Domain Name Service
     • Contains a list of IP addresses
     • Used when venturing the WWW

6. Tags

   • <body>
     • shows the content
   • It creates the entire code
     • There are a LOT more, these are just the basics
   • <!DOCTYPE>
     • Defines the document type
   • <h1>
     • Can have any number after the h
     • Is a header
   • <html>
     • Begins and ends every html document
   • <title>
     • Is the title of the document
   • <p>
     • Shows a paragraph
   • <br>
     • A break
