2. With HTML you can make your own webpage

   • HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages.
   • HTML describes the structure of a web page
   • HTML consists of a series of elements
   • HTML elements tell the browser how to display the information

3. Tags

   • HTML elements are represented as tags
     • HTML tags label pieces of content such as 'heading', 'paragraph' etc.
     • Browsers do not show the HTML tags, but use them to organise the web page
     • Opening tags are like<...>
     • Ending tags are like </...>
     • Visible content is within the body tags

4. HTML documents

   • All HTML documents must start with a document type declaration: <!DOCTYPE html>
   • The HTML document itself begins with <html> and ends with </html>
   • The visible part of the HTML document is between <body> and </body>

5. HTML headings, paragraphs and links

   • Headings
     • HTML headings are defined with the <h1> to <h6> tags
     • <h1> is the most important heading and <h6> is the least
   • Paragraphs
     • HTML paragraphs are defined with the <p> tags
   • Links
     • Links are defined with the <a> tags
