  1. OOP Language

  2. Non-object elements

    • will often represent number values and simple values
      • Simple non-object elements are called Primitives
        • Simple Value Ex. Boolean(True or False)
        • The first six primitives ( byte , short , int , long , float , double ) represent numbers. Each of these has a different size.
  3. Object Elements

  4. Variables. Variables are place holders whose contents can change.

    • Variables are data place holders
      • reference types. this variable provides a reference to an object
      • primitive types. this variable type holds a primitive
      • Literals: source code representation of a value
  5. Constants. Place holders whose values cannot be changed.

  6. Primitive conversion. Changing the type of a primitive to another type.

  7. Operators. Operators are notations indicating that certain operations are to be performed

  8. Unicode character encoding set

    • Unicode is a character set developed by a non-profit organization called the Unicode Consortium (www.unicode.org). This body attempts to include all characters in all languages in the world into one single character set.
  9. ASCII characters still play a dominant role in software programming. Java too uses ASCII for almost all input elements, except comments, identifiers, and the contents of characters and strings.

  10. Java Separators (),:;{}[].<>
