Factors Affecting Network Performance

1. Latency

   • Latency is the time we have to wait for data to be transmitted,it's affected by the number of devices connected to the network
   • The less latency the faster data will be transmitted to your device. It's affected by the number of devices on the network and the type of connection device.

2. The transmission media

   • The transmission media are what is used to carry the data from sender to receiver for example fibre-optic cable (wired) and Wi-Fi (wireless)
   • The more delays there are, the longer it takes to transmit data across a network.

3. The number of users on the network

   • Too many users or devices on the same network can cause the network to slow down if there is insufficient bandwidth for the data.
   • If there are 4 devices on a network, then they will receive 1/4 of the bandwidth each. As more devices join the network, the bandwidth is divided in to smaller and smaller amounts for each device
