1. online friends

   • lily is a young girl homeschooled due to her disability. she finds herself experiencing feelings of loneliness and she begins to enter a very dark mental state
     • that's until she finds James on an online chat site. he is the same age and shares many interests. she keeps her relationship with him a secret
       • it was all going well, James made Lily feel good about herself and boosted her self esteem. he then began asking for photos. inappropriate photos.
         • not wanting to anger him, lily agrees and sends him pictures and videos. he then asks to meet her...

2. paulo's pocket diary

   • during the time he was abducted, Paulo continued to write a diary of his life
     • six years on, detectives find his body in a fridge in a basement with this pocket diary in his pocket
       • the diary is read by his mum, who never lost hope in finding him

3. letters from grandpa

   • a young girl in 2053 reading letters written by her grandpa in 2020
     • he describes what happened in the year 2020, the coronavirus situation and the world going into lockdown
       • the letters include a description of the trials of isolation, online school, the the nhs being overwhelmed, masks and hand sanitizer
         • the letters are read in the grandpa's 'voice' however he passed away the year before. the girl intersperses the reading with rhetorical questions and reactions

4. penpals with the alien

   • digging through the rubbish dump looking for spare parts to fix his bike, ollie comes across something interesting. something he has never seen before
     • its a letter, addressed to 'earthlings'. he begins to read and discovers that an alien called xogly is trapped on a faraway planet by the martians, and cannot get home.
       • ollie replies to the alien and sends a letter through a magic portal
         • they have a conversation with each other and ollie tells xogly about life on earth in return for information about aliens and outerspace
           • after building a close bond with xogly, ollie builds a vehicle so he can travel through the portal and save him from the martians

5. confessions of a prison inmate

   • a prison guard retells what she heard through the microphones of the cells at a high- security prison which is known to house some of the most dangerous people in the world
     • she talks about mutterings of the criminals, stories shared between the prisoners and horrifying plans that the inmates have for when they are released
       • the duologue is the conversation between the guard and a few of the inmates about what she has heard

6. love from the leper colony

   • this a series of letters between lepers living on the island Molokai and their loved ones who are living elsewhere
     • a gut-wrenching look into the emotions of outcasts separated from their families and friends because of leprosy and the hope for finding a cure and reuniting with them
