   • Imagine a land of endless variety a world of rain forests, deserts, volcanoes, waterfalls, primitive villages, large plantations ,oil ringd, diamond mines and national park with thousands of fascinating plants and animals

   • Africa is located to the south of Europe and to the southwest of Asia. Egypt, in the northeast corner of Africa, is due west of the Arabian Peninsula. The second largest continent in the world, it is to the south of the Mediterranean Sea, west of the Indian Ocean, and east of the Atlantic Ocean.

   • 1.3 billion people The population of Africa is expected to roughly double by 2050. This will add 1.2 billion people to Africa's 2019 population of 1.3 billion people.

   • Within Africa's vast borders are many topographical features, such as deserts, mountains, plateaus, and rivers. In this lesson, students will study some of Africa's diverse landscape and investigate how these features impact the available water supply, food sources, and population distribution of this unique continent.

9. The Sahara Desert

   • The Sahara al-kubrá, 'the Greatest Desert' is a desert located on the African continent. With an area of 9,200,000 square kilometres (3,600,000 sq mi), it is the largest hot desert in the world and the third largest desert overall after Antarctica and the Arctic. The name 'Sahara' is derived from the Arabic word for "desert".
