1. Viruses

   • Piece of software/program
     • Corrupts and deletes files
       • Could even delete EVERYTHING
     • Usually infects important system files, to hide the virus more, allowing it to have higher access rights within the machine
   • Spreads through Emails, links, networks and portable storage devices (USB)

2. Worms

   • Self replicating program
     • Doesn't need to be moved my humans
       • Slows down computer
   • Destroys and burrows into your files

3. Trojan

   • Similar to a virus
   • Takes action even without user's consent
   • Deletes, blocks, modifies and copies your files!

4. Keystroke logger

   • Records whatever you type on the computer
     • Data can be sent off to the attackers via a network connection
   • Details are copied down, for further use.
   • Steals details

5. Spyware

   • Puts a piece of software on your computer
   • Activates things on your computer
   • Can turn on your webcam, and record you!

6. Adware

   • Gives you constant pop-ups
     • If you click on it you are re-directed to other sites
     • Very annoying

7. Scareware

   • Fake marketing scam
   • Forces you to buy non-existent things
     • Profits go straight to the criminal

8. Ransomware

   • Most dangerous piece of malware
   • Holds your PC hostage, saying you have to pay money to get your files back, otherwise they are locked forever
     • They might not even give you your files back!
