3. Applications: have phonics lessons and put focus on grammar and spelling as well in the lessons

2. Characteristics: More of the language that is in text books, more complex language, the language we don't use in everyday conversations.
3. Applications: Provide many different text so that children can see the differences of complex language.

2. Characteristics: human language rest on the building blocks of expression, based on verbs, nouns and adjectives.
3. Applications: do lessons that teach sentence structure
Threshold Hypothesis

2. Characteristics: before you can be successful in your second language, you must reach the threshold level of ability in your first language
3. Applications: bring in different culturesinto the classroom and encourage parent involement
