  1. Is the communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text.

INTRALINGUAL: translation, or ‘rewording’: ‘an interpretation of verbalsigns by means of other signs of the same language’ INTERLINGUAL: translation, or ‘translation proper’: ‘an interpretation of verbal signs by means of some other language’ INTERSEMIOTIC:translation, or ‘transmutation’: ‘an interpretation of verbal signs by means of signs of non-verbal sign systems
